Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week 2025 Reinforces Emirate’s Global Leadership in Smart Mobility
Abu Dhabi has further cemented its status as a global hub for smart and sustainable mobility with the inaugural Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week (ADAW) 2025. Organised by the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC), the event brought together global policymakers, investors, innovators, and researchers to advance the deployment and regulation of smart and autonomous technologies across multiple sectors.
The action-packed programme featured four flagship events: Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit, DRIFTx, RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) 2025, and the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL). Over just six days, more than 15,000 attendees experienced live demonstrations of world-class autonomous innovations spanning land, sea, air, and industrial applications.
Throughout ADAW 2025, numerous new autonomous technologies were unveiled, including advanced delivery services. A key highlight was the signing of over 40 strategic agreements between UAE and global partners, reinforcing cross-sector collaboration and supporting Abu Dhabi’s long-term strategy for next-generation autonomous systems.
The week demonstrated Abu Dhabi’s commitment to transforming research into impactful, scalable solutions, relying on robust governance, real-world testing, and public-private partnerships.
The opening event, the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit, welcomed 400 participants—including national leaders, senior officials, and global autonomous industry experts—to discuss the future of regulation, policy, and deployment for smart systems. Landmark announcements included a partnership between the Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster, the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), and Silicon Valley’s Tensor Auto to enable commercial deployment of Tensor’s Level 4 autonomous Robocars.
Another milestone was the unveiling of Abu Dhabi’s first vertiport network, alongside deals advancing autonomous logistics, smart ports, fleet automation, and advanced aerial mobility with partners such as LODD Autonomous, Archer Aviation, Glydways, CaoCao, Aramex, noon, Talabat, ADNOC, and Emirates Post.
Faisal Al Bannai said:
“Abu Dhabi is already driving the global conversation on autonomy, from research and regulation to live deployment.
Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week unites regulators, innovators, and investors to strengthen a trusted ecosystem where technology serves people, advances industry, and reinforces the emirate’s position as a leader in intelligent systems. Abu Dhabi is where you can turn ambition into impact.”
Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa added:
“Abu Dhabi is recognised as a destination where the future is not just imagined but lived. Through high-level dialogue and collaboration, Abu Dhabi is becoming a global hub for autonomy.
Our progress reflects a firm commitment, real-world trials, and an unwavering focus on safety. Our edge in attracting investment is simple: with the right regulatory framework and the right technology, we tick all the boxes.”
The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit also explored enabling factors shaping autonomy’s future. Speakers discussed AI-human collaboration, public trust in intelligent systems, the transformation of urban mobility through integrated infrastructure, and emerging investment frameworks to accelerate innovation.
DRIFTx at Yas Marina Circuit brought autonomous technology to life with demonstrations of robotaxis, humanoid robots, eVTOLs, and autonomous boats. Visitors witnessed flight displays by ASPIRE, Eanan, and Multi Level Group (MLG), plus robotics innovations from K2 and MOTON. Partnerships with Uber and WeRide allowed attendees to experience autonomous vehicle rides first-hand.
Khalifa University hosted RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) 2025, showcasing global robotics talent and underscoring Abu Dhabi’s leadership in AI innovation. The competition drew over 2,000 attendees and 166 teams from 22 countries, competing in disciplines such as humanoid soccer, disaster-response robotics, autonomous rescue drones, and sustainable AI applications.
Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri commented:
“The UAE has hosted RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2025, a celebration of 166 project teams competing across eight robotics categories. Abu Dhabi’s hosting of the competition highlights the emirate’s investment in STEM, advanced robotics, and AI research, fielding 12 UAE teams. We congratulate the winners and all 700 participants across the leagues.
At Khalifa University, we nurture and invest in future generations of home-grown talent, in line with UAE Vision 2031 to harness AI and robotics as a transformer of economies and industries.”
The week concluded with the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL), where six fully driverless race cars competed in a world-first Grand Final at Yas Marina Circuit, showcasing the future of autonomous motorsport. The event marked a milestone for AI-driven systems operating safely and reliably under extreme racing conditions. Recent qualifying rounds showed dramatic progress, with AI closing the gap with human lap times to fractions of a second. Teams from Germany (TUM, Constructor University), Italy (Unimore, PoliMOVE), and the UAE (Kinetiz, TII Racing) took part in the historic race.
ADAW 2025 concluded with a unified vision for the future of autonomy. The initiatives launched and partnerships formed signaled how Abu Dhabi continues to demonstrate technology and ambition working together toward a sustainable, safe, and future-ready world.
